MCA-Belize

Millennium Challenge Account Belize (MCA-Belize) is the local accountable entity responsible for implementing projects funded under the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) compact. We work to support national development through strategic investments in the energy and education sectors.

Our goal is to reduce poverty through economic growth by improving the reliability of energy systems and strengthening the education sector to better prepare Belizeans for the workforce.

The Energy Project under the Belize Compact aims to reduce the wholesale cost of electricity in Belize. 

The Education Project focuses on improving the quality and relevance of education, including integrating Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) to equip students with practical skills for the workforce.

TVET (Technical and Vocational Education and Training) provides hands-on, practical skills that prepare students for specific careers. It is important because it bridges the gap between education and employment, ensuring students are job-ready.

Students, educators, institutions, businesses, and the wider Belizean population benefit from improved education systems and more reliable energy services.

Through the Education Project, MCA-Belize integrates TVET programs, strengthens curricula, and collaborates with stakeholders to ensure students gain skills aligned with labor market needs.

MCA-Belize projects are implemented over a fixed 5-year compact period, with a focus on delivering sustainable, long-term results even after project completion.
