Dr. Tanesha Ross

Dr. Tanesha Ross currently serves as Director of Quality Secondary Education at the Millennium Challenge Account–Belize (MCA-Belize), where she leads Activity 1 of the Belize Education Project. This activity encompasses the sub-activities of Quality Assurance and Equipping Educators, with a focus on strengthening teaching quality, school leadership, and accountability across the secondary education system.

A seasoned education practitioner, Dr. Ross brings over two decades of experience dedicated to advancing quality education and lifelong learning in Belize. Her professional career spans leadership and instructional roles across the primary, secondary, and tertiary levels, as well as senior-level service within the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology.

Prior to joining MCA-Belize, Dr. Ross served as Deputy Chief Inspector of Schools at the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology. In this role, she played a key role in revising Belize’s Framework for the Inspection of Schools, ensuring alignment with national education quality goals. She also led multiple inspection teams, promoting accountability, continuous improvement, and standards-based practice across the education system.

Dr. Ross holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Education with a concentration in Language, Literacy, and Culture from Oklahoma State University, and a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education with a concentration in Professional Education from the University of North Florida. Her doctoral research examined Belizean high school principals’ leadership practices through the lens of Culturally Responsive School Leadership, reflecting her commitment to culturally grounded and inclusive educational leadership. Her professional experience includes classroom teaching at the primary, secondary, and tertiary levels, administrative leadership at the elementary level, and national oversight in quality assurance. Dr. Ross remains deeply committed to advancing quality assurance, culturally relevant leadership, and effective teaching and learning practices that empower educators, inspire students, and strengthen communities in the 21st century.
