Dr. Roy Young
Beyond academia, Dr. Young has extensive experience as a consultant and researcher, conducting studies and program evaluations across sectors such as tourism, agriculture, environment, health, and labor. His work has frequently involved collaboration with international development partners and agencies, strengthening evidence-based decision-making and program design. Dr. Young’s expertise in data collection and analysis has taken him to communities across Belize, both rural and urban, engaging diverse stakeholders including farmers, youth, schools, businesses, and government institutions. Notably, his research company completed a nationwide consultancy for the Inter-American Development Bank’s Education Quality Improvement Project (EQIP), collecting and analyzing data from all primary schools in Belize.
He holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Agricultural Education from Cornell University, with minors in Research Methodology and Business Administration, earned in 1993. Dr. Young remains deeply committed to advancing education, improving livelihoods for disadvantaged populations, and supporting initiatives that enhance the reliability and affordability of energy for Belizeans. Through his leadership at MCA-Belize, he is focused on ensuring that the Compact delivers measurable, sustainable, and lasting impact for the country.
