Alberto J. Matus

Alberto J. Matus currently serves as the Information Technology Manager of the Millennium Challenge Account Belize (MCA-Belize), where he oversees the organization’s information technology operations and the management of information systems. In this role, he provides strategic and operational leadership to ensure secure, efficient, and resilient IT infrastructure that supports Compact-funded activities, data integrity, and evolving organizational needs.

With over 15 years of experience in Information Technology, Computer Science, and Cybersecurity, Mr. Matus brings a strong blend of technical expertise and business acumen. He holds dual master’s degrees, a Master of Business Administration (MBA) and a Master of Science in Cybersecurity with a concentration in Digital Forensics, enabling him to align technology strategies with organizational objectives, governance requirements, and risk management frameworks.

Mr. Matus began his career at Sacred Heart College in Cayo, Belize, where he served for nine and a half years as an ICT Technical Support Specialist and contributed to institutional transformation through improved service delivery, systems modernization, and the implementation of modern technologies.

He later joined Galen University as IT Director and System Administrator, while also serving as an Adjunct Lecturer in the Computer Science Department. He led the development and maintenance of ICT infrastructure aligned with academic and operational goals and successfully designed and guided the approval of Galen University’s Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity program. He has taught a range of computer science, networking, and cybersecurity courses.
Mr. Matus has also lectured in Cybersecurity at St. John’s College University. He is a member of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), Phi Kappa Phi, and One Young World, and a Fellow of the Fred J. Hansen Foundation. Recognized for his ability to manage complex initiatives, he specializes in cybersecurity risk mitigation, asset protection, preventative threat analysis, and strategic technology planning across institutional environments.
